Manchester City won a 3-0 victory over Palermo in its last preseason departure, with Tijjani Reijnders on the net twice after Erling Haaland’s first open.
The visitors settled quickly in Sicily and took control of the procedures from the outset.
Palermo had the first goal in the third minute when Pietro Ceccaroni headed to Tommaso Augello, but this would show one of his few real openings.
City hit the 25 minutes first and was a family name on the spreadsheet. Erling Haaland received a Rico Lewis pass inside the box and quietly searched a standing effort on the bottom left.
Palermo responded with Filippo Ranocchia forcing James Trafford to a very good savings from the nearby range after the workshop.
The midfield of the city dominated possession and the possibilities followed. Rayan Ait-Noururi and John Stones saw blocked efforts in the area before half the time, while Rayan Cherki was also denied when Palermo threw bodies on the line.
The second half began with the wholesale changes of the city, with Pep Guardiola introducing a fresh XI, including Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Savinho, Jeremy Doku and Reijnders. The shake paid dividends almost instantly.
In the 59th minute, Savinho jumped his score to the right and threw the ball again for Reijnders, who found space in the center and devastated a right -wing strike on the lower left corner to double the city’s advantage.
Palermo sounded the changes, causing a series of substitutes in search of an answer. They had moments of promise, with Jeremy Le Douaron who kicked a shot on the counter in the 78th minute.
The city remained dangerous in attack. Savinho almost took his own goal, firing closely wide after being played by Gundogan.
The third goal came in the 82nd minute and sealed the contest. Again, he was Reijnders in the right place at the right time. The Divine Mukasa placed it in the center of the box and the Dutchman calmly guided his finish through Alfred Gomis to the lower corner.
