Pakistan launched the Asia Cup 2025, Tournament to advance without them

Former Indian Sunil Gavaskar made a huge statement on Pakistan’s participation in the Asia Cup 2025 at the end of this year. Cricleter’s starter predicted that Pakistan may not participate in the Asia Cup, and this came after a fatal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, with 26 deaths.

In a conversation with Sports Today, Sunil Gavaskar stated that the Cricket Control Council in India (BCCI) follows the Directives of the Indian government. Gavaskar added that Pakistan will not participate in the tournament unless the political situation changes.

“BCCI’s stance has always been what the Indian government tells them to do. So I don’t think it is different when it comes to the Asia Cup,” said Gavaskar (through Hindustan Times).

“India and Sri Lanka are the hosts of this particular edition of the Asia Cup, so it depends on whether things have changed at all, but if things have not changed, I cannot see that Pakistan is now part of the Asia Cup, which will be welcomed by India and Sri Lanka,” he added.

Sunil Gavaskar said the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) could be dissolved. Gavaskar added that teams like Hong Kong or the United Arab Emirates could be invited to participate in a triangular or quadrangular series.

“I don’t know what it will be like. The Asian Cricket Council may be dissolved, and you could only have a three -year tour, which could have a three -year tournament or a four -year tournament with perhaps invited to Hong Kong or United Arab Emirates.”

“So it could have a good time, the Asian cricket advice could dissolve. But I think it depends on what happens in the next two months,” said Gavaskar (using a mentioned source).

Currently, the Indians and Pak cricketers are engaged in their respective franchise leagues: IPL and PSL. The calendar and host places of the Asia Cup must still be completed. If the tournament continues, it is likely to be reproduced in a hybrid model, similar to previous editions.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2013

Both teams have not played a bilateral series since 2013. Blue men have only Green’s men in Green at ICC and ACC tournaments. India has constantly avoided traveling to its neighbors due to political tensions.

PCB had to host the Asia Cup 2023 in a hybrid accommodation model, with India playing all its games in Sri Lanka. A similar agreement took place at the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, where India played all games in Dubai instead of traveling to Pakistan.

With the Asia Cup 2025 scheduled to be co-acted by India and Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s participation is still uncertain. The tournament was expected to serve as a key preparation platform for the T20 2026 World Cup.
