Paige Spiranac on rumors that gave ‘sexual favors’ to compete in masters

Paige spiranac Had enough of the rumors of her Dubai Master’s appearance in 2015.

“There were constant comments, like, ‘I made sexual favors to get this invitation,’ and I was listening to it – and they would say (he) in hearing me. It was difficult,” said Spiranac, 32, when talking to Honey and Guess Dixon on a recent chapter of their Quiet please! podcast.

“It was my first pro event – it was very difficult,” he continued. I wanted to be liked and I was playing so bad. He was horrible. “

The model was a growing social media star and an influencer on -lein who was known for posting pictures of her golf costumes in Sultry when she was invited a sponsor to the tournament – what many thought at the time that he was above his play level. Spiranac – who was 23 at the time – said she understood why her appearance in the tournament could have “ruffled feather” in the golf community.

“You work your ass away, a week in and a week out, and here I come and I walk on in,” he told Rid and Dixon.

Spiranac also admitted in the episode that she was not ready for the media frenzy that came together with her appearance.

“I finished going viral and this was back when people didn’t go viral all the time and I didn’t know how to handle it and my whole life was flipped upside down,” he said. “I went to have 500 followers to 100,000 followers.”

He added, “I had this invitation to play Installation (women’s European tournament). I had just turned into a pro, I never played golf outside the country. And everyone was like, ‘It’s low key, don’t worry about it. No one is going to know if you play well or not. I showcased and made hours of press, I wasn’t ready for it.

Spiranac finished shot 77 and 79, losing the cut required to continue in the tournament at the time. But this is how she was treated during the tournament – and the rumors she was forced to endure – that she said she had most affected and left suffering from depression.

“Yes, that was, like, the worst moment of my life,” he continued. “I’ll never forget that.”

In an interview in 2018 with Illustrated SportsSpiranac again discussed how comments about her physical appearance and played on the golf course on her before the tournament.

“I was sitting in the bathroom just balls and I was like, ‘I don’t want to go through this pain, this feeling of helplessness. Being alone. Fearful.’ And I said that I never wanted anyone to feel the way I felt in that moment, ”he told the announcement at the time. “I was so badly bullied, to the point that I didn’t want to live anymore.”
