Dango Ouattara scored his first goal for Brentford, as Keith Andrews claimed his first victory at the Premier League as his manager with a 1-0 surprise victory over Aston Villa.
A 3-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest last week advanced the preseason expectations of a difficult season for bees after the departure of director Thomas Frank, now in Tottenham, and the leading striker Bryan Mbuemo.
Yoane Wissa was again out of Brentford’s squad, as he sought to join Mbuemo to leave the club, Dr. Congo Forward decided to force -through a move to Newcastle United.
But Ouattara, signed by Bournemouth to replace Mbuemo after his move at Manchester United, won a first victory for Andrews.
Ouattara went out to the goal after Caiomhin Kelleher’s long ball dropped on his way, and after being denied at the first attempt by Emi Martinez, remained alive to throw the rebound home.
Mikkel Damsgaard had a goal for a free kick just before half the time, but it did not even matter that the town continued to win and without a goal.
Burnley 2-0 Sunderland
Burnley and Sunderland experienced Contrasting Fortunes on the opening day of the season. Scott Parker’s side was hit by 3-0 by Tottenham, while Sunderland beat West Ham on the same score.
But the black cats got rid of two of the three sides promoted.
Parker’s men saw that a goal was not dismissed in the first half, Lyle Foster’s effort was reduced by Jenson Seelt.
However, Josh Cullen dragged a low effort to the lower corner of two minutes in the second half, and after a strong pressure from the Sunderland, Cullen turned the supplier when Jaidon Anthony shot on the roof of the network.
Bournemouth 1-0 wolves
The unfortunate start of the Wolves season continued at the Vitality Stadium, as the ten men of Vitor Pereira followed their 4-0 defeat at Manchester City with another defeat on the south coast.
Marcus Tavernier gave Bournemouth the lead with an effort diverted to the fourth minute.
The visitors saw Toti Gomes sent four minutes to the second half, and although they improved from the first half, the wolves could not find an equalizer.
