Oscar Valdez faces Ricky Medina in a crucial combat at home on September 6 in Nogales, Mexico

Oscar Valdez will make a light -round competition against Ricky Medina next month on September 6 at the Binational Domo in his hometown of Nogales, Mexico.

The upper rank has not revealed which network, if there is one, will show the Valdez-Medina struggle. His seven -year contract with ESPN expired last month on July 26. They still have to look for a new transmission agreement.

Former World Champion of two Divisions Valdez (32-3, 24 kos) has not struggled since December, when he was stopped on the sixth round by the Wbo Super Feather PweightHweight Emanuel Navarrete champion.

Promoter Bob Arum says Valdez will look for his third world title. He does not mention which of the champions he will head to 130. There would be no sense to fight again in Navarrete after his domination twice. The other champions, Lamong Roach Jr, Eduardo ‘Sugar’ Nunez and ‘Shaquie Foster, would also be brutal fights for him.

Medina (26-7, 10 kos) has lost two of its last three fights, and it is likely that it does not match this version of Valdez. However, with his youth, he could take a real test for Oscarscar. We do not know what Valdez has left at this time in his 13 years of his career. Navarre has lost three of its last five fights, which was twice hit by Navarre and once for Shakur Stevenson. What Valdez should do is move to 126 and try to regain the success he had in this class of weight. This is where he started his career and fought at the highest levels. It is not strong enough or capable to equalize with none of the champions at 130.
