O’Riley ‘has the future with Brighton’ as it joins Marseille on loan

Brighton said that the midfielder Matt O’iley has a future with the club after joining the French team Marseille in a loan during the season at the end of the transfer period.

The International Denmark joined Albion from the Celtic last summer and began the first two games of the Premier League season before losing victory over Manchester City last weekend.

He will now join with former Albion’s main coach Roberto de Zerbi, who led Marseille in a second place last season.

Manager Fabian Hurzeler said: “Matt has the opportunity to challenge the highest level in France and the Champions League.

“We have a lot of competition in the positions of the midfield and, although we see the long -term future of Matt here with us, this gives it the potential of more play time.

“We will supervise his progress throughout the season with Marseille and wish him well the rest of the season.”

O’Riley scored three times for the seagulls, including the opening day draw at Home in Fulham last month.
