Firefighters in Oregon are racing to save Fir Doerner – one of the tallest and older trees in the world – from a fire that burns from the Saturday.
The gigantic FIR, more than 325 feet (99 m) and, estimated, has already lost about 50 feet over 450, which may endanger its position in high height ratings, officials say.
With a hotter and dry weather forecast along the Oregon coast, firefighters are trying to ignite the fire.
Officials discussed some non -traditional flame excretion ways, including construction forests to reach and suppress the flames above the tree.
The reason for the rise remains unknown, although the lighting was excluded.
On Tuesday, the infrared drone did not find an active flame and smoke at the top of the tree, but found heat inside the cavity, the BBC reported about 280 feet, BBC said.
Ms Harper told ABC News that a fire could affect the tree position in the global height ranking.
“We lost about 50 feet, only from the fire and the pieces that fell,” she said, noting that 50 feet were lost above. “So, I don’t know where he will stand after that, but it’s still a beautiful tree.”
She also said she did not risk the tree completely slept.
“The tree is so big that it has such a mass that it will take some time to burn the whole tree,” she said.
The Coos Forest Atrication Association said the helicopter drops had reduced the firing activity at the top, while sprayers and deterrence lines were created around the base. The helicopter remains in standby.
