OpenAI is funding Axios’ expansion into four new markets

OpenAI is entering the local news game.

Axios newsletter-based media organization announced a partnership with OpenAI on Wednesday. As part of this three-year deal, the AI ​​giant will fund Axios’ expansion of its local newsletters in four new cities: Pittsburgh; Kansas City, Missouri; Boulder, Colorado; and Huntsville, Alabama.

While OpenAI has signed content sharing and licensing deals many publications – the nature and details of these deals have not been made public – this is the first time that OpenAI has financed the current press room of a media company with which it has partnered, according to Axios. OpenAI’s other media partners include: Vox Media, The Atlantic, and the Financial Times, among many others.

In a blog postOpenAI said: “In the next phase of our work⁠, including our latest collaboration with Axios, we are focused on helping publishers more effectively integrate our tools to benefit their missions and businesses.”
