Joseph Parker’s manager David Higgins says there has been no contact with Wbo heavy weight champion, Oleksandr Usyk, to start negotiations for Wbo -ordered struggle.
It is questionable if Usyk (24-0, 15 kos) will choose to defend his Wbo title against Parker. The possibilities of the struggle was darkened with the report that Turki Alralikh is not interested in supporting the struggle. Without its funding, Usyk’s possibilities accepting to face Parker are scarce. It would be a strange play if you chose to fight against him because he does not pay.
Parker (36-3, 24 kos) obtained the mandatory place to challenge Usyk on detaining Martin Bakole in the second round last February. Last month, WBO ordered Oleksandr to start talking to Parker on July 24, giving them 30 days to negotiate an agreement.
“The last time I spoke to Frank Warren, there had been no commitment. No governing anything inside or out, but I think Usyk would have been dedicated to a discussion or negotiation if he wanted to retain and defend his indisputable world titles,” said David Higgins. Sky Sports News.
Usyk can strip
Parker and Higgins have to look at the bright side. Usyk will probably undress soon if he decides not to fight Parker. Then the WBO will probably order Parker and the next best -rated contestant to fight for vacant belt. This would be one of these three:
It is not ideal for Parker to fight one of these boys for Wbo belt, but at least it would be shot. After all, is not the title that interests Parker? If you are only the money, you should go in another direction, as there are no opportunities for it.
“I hope the merit -based system and the man who has really won a global heavyweight title is respected, it is allowed to have this title, because it has won the hard road, the path of the old school, with consecutive victories on the monumental opposition,” said Higgins.
