The former police officer was imprisoned for his deadly decision to make a 95-year-old woman with symptoms of dementia at the Australian Care House.
Christian White said he used a weapon to prevent a “violent confrontation” by finding Claire Nalande disoriented and holding a small kitchen knife in May 2023.

The case caused public resonance, and the judge at one point stated that “unlike any other I had to resist” for almost two decades on the bench.
On Friday, having made a verdict in Novy South Wales (NSW), Justice Jan Harrison stated that White’s actions in the yallambee lodge in the town of godfather, near Panberry, were a “terrible mistake”.
The “obvious” reality was that Mrs. Naundla was “a weak and confused 95-year-old woman”, which “posed nothing that could be reasonable to call the threat of any substance.”
“The simple but tragic fact seems to me that Mr. White is completely – and on one accessible form inexplicably – I read and misunderstood the dynamics of the situation,” Mr. Harrison said.
The court heard the White summoned to the house of care at about 04:00 on May 17, 2023, after Mrs. Nalland was noticed as he was indoors with two henchy steam knives.
The body’s footage showed that he had warned Mrs. Navndland to throw the blades, targeting her weapons before saying “Bugger” and shoot. She fell and struck her head, causing the deadly brain with blood.
The defense emphasized the evidence of one of the paramedics and the White Police partner, who said that Mrs. Nandell made them scary for her safety.
But the prosecutor’s office claimed that Mrs. Navndland, who weighed under 48 kg (105 pounds) and used the walker to get around – did not pose a threat, and the officer was “impatient” using the weapon only three minutes after the confrontation.
The Mrs. Naundland family, at a hearing last month, stated that “incomprehensible” and “inhumane” actions have forever changed their lives.
“To date, I have been injured by this ridiculous cowardice,” Michael Naundland, the eldest son Claire said in court.
He called his mother “the most caring person in the world” and said the family wants justice.
Earlier, White said in court that I did not think that Mrs. Navndle would be “much injured” and that he was “devastated” by her death.
In a letter to the apology, White wrote: “I am deeply sorry about my actions and the serious consequences they have caused, not only Mrs. Noraland, but also your family and a greater community.”
White worked as a police officer at NSW police for 12 years before he was rejected after his conviction.
Harrison’s justice stated that the term in prison was not needed, given that White had already lost its work and became an undesirable member of the local community, and did not take the risk of re -violation. He added that it would be difficult for a former officer to live in prison.
He sentenced the white to the order of corrections of the two years – in essence, a good connection with behavior – and 425 hours of communal service.
Mrs. Novland’s death has caused global indignation and read close attention about using NSW police force.
Commissioner Karen Webb called death as a “terrible tragedy”, which should not have happened, but emphasized that the Taser and the forces were approaching.
