Microchip Maker Nvidia said he would get $ 5.5 billion (£ 4.2 billion) after the US government has strengthened export rules to China.
The chips of the chips, which underlined the artificial intelligence boom (AI), will require licenses for export H20 AI to China, which was one of the most popular.
The rules come against the backdrop of the escalation of the trade war between the US and China, and both countries introduce steep tariffs to each other, covering different goods.
Nvidia’s shares were plunged by almost 6% per hour.
On Tuesday, NVIDIA announced that the US government said last week that the H20 chip requires a sale permit in China, including Hong Kong.
The technical giant stated that federal officials advised them that the license requirement “would act for an uncertain future.”
“(Government) noted that the license requirement resolves the risk that covered products can be used or redirected to a supercomputer in China,” Nvidia said.
The company refused to comment further when referring to the BBC.
Mark Einstein, with a CONTROPPTION study consultation, said a $ 5.5 billion hit, counted by Nvidia, was in line with the estimates.
“Although it is definitely a lot of money, it’s what Nvidia can transfer,” he said.
“But, as we have seen in the last few days and weeks, it may be in many ways talks. I will not be surprised if in the near future as a result of the possibility of tariffs, given not only NVIDIA, but also all American semiconductor ecosystem,” Mr. Einstein added.
Chips remain the battlefield in the US-Kitai race for technologyAnd US President Donald Trump now wants to worry a highly complex and delicate production process that has been held by other regions for decades to perfectly.
Nvidia’s AI chips were key to US export control. Founded in 1993, it was originally known for producing a type of computer chips, especially for computer games.
Long before the AI revolution, he began adding functions to his chips, which, as they say, help machine training. Now it is considered as a key company to see how fast the AI technology is distributed worldwide.
The company’s account took the hit in January When it was reported that the opponent of the Chinese app AI, Deepseek, was built for the share of other chat boots.
While it was believed, the US was caught by the technological achievements of its competitor.
Nvidia said $ 5.5 billion fees would be related to H20 products for inventory, purchase commitments and related reserves.
Rui Ma Ma, founder of Podcaste Tech Buzz China, said she expected that American and Chinese semiconductor supply networks would be “fully unleashed” if the restrictions remain in place.
She added: “It doesn’t make sense for a Chinese client that depends on American chips,” especially since China has a data centers.
