Nuno Espirito Santo is waiting for a clear air conversations with the owner of the Nottingham Forest, Evangelos Marinakis and the athletic director Edu after a turbulent start of the season that has pushed for the speculations that could be looted.
Forest secured a 1-1 tie at Crystal Palace this afternoonTwo days after reports suggesting that Nuno’s future on the city was threatened after questioning the club’s ambition in the transfer market.
Forest fans sang the name of Nuno in Selhurst Park and the Portuguese rushed to dismiss a question that he asked him if he was trying to get a club outing.
Speaking after the game in Selhurst Park, he said: “Absolute nonsense. Absurd. This narrative is absurd. I love what I do. At the moment I don’t like it, it’s over.
“So is football. There are things I can’t control. What comes out, looting (rumor), I can’t control.
“What I said, and I thought, much, it is my concern about the squad. Last season, these boys achieved something great. If as a club we do not help them, in terms of figures, quality and talent, everything will go.
“What we have ahead is the Premier League, Europa League, Carabao Cup and FA CUP. Do you know how many parties means for us? This is the respect we have to show in our workforce and help them.”
The former Wolves head, Nuno, hopes that he can sit with Marinakis and Edu this week to try to move forward together.
He added: “We will have them (conversations). We must, we must be.
“What I think is that we need to have these conversations and we will have them. This is what I think is more important than anything. Players need it, the squad needs, the club needs it, we need it. And we will have it.
“Everyone wants the best for Forest: I first. The whole club wants the best for the forest.
“It’s the first time in my career it faces this situation and they ask me for these things. It’s not useful, but I think the conflict does not work. We have to create harmony.”
The brilliant career of Callum Hudson-Odoi and rescued a point for Forest after a goal from Ismaila Sarr put on the side of the house in front.
