Nottingham Forest has rejected reports on an apparent confrontation between the manager Nuno Espírito Santo and the owner of the Club Evangelos Marinakis as “false news” in an update on the striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
Forest secured European football for next season with a 2-2 draw against Leicester City on Sunday, but the equalizer of Facundo Buonanotte for the relegated foxes on the Nuno side once an important blow to the championship league football race.
The draw left Forest a point that took place in the fifth place of Chelsea, which 2-0 in Newcastle United, with two games to begin with. Forest welcomes Chelsea on the city on the last day of the season.
There was a drama after the level of Buonanotte when striker Awoniyi collided with the base of the distant post while trying to connect with the Anthony Elanga cross on the right. His efforts were for nothing, as the flag went up to Elanga, and Awoniyi received a long treatment before leaving -continued. It was later revealed that Awoinyi required emergency surgery in the injury.
In full time, a furious marinakis stormed the field and sought to change warm words with Nuno. However, in a statement, Forest insisted that there was no confrontation between the owner and the manager, claiming that no Marinakis frustration was the result of the decision to allow Awoniyi to continue.
The statement said: “The Forest of Nottingham can confirm that Taiwo Awoniyi recovers well so far after an urgent surgery on a serious abdominal injury suffered during the Sunday game against Leicester City.
“ The severity of his injury is a powerful reminder of physical risks in the game and why the health and well -being of a player must always come first. In Nottingham Forest, this principle is not only politics for us; it is the deeply belief and conviction of our owner. In Evangelos Marinakis, this is not just a football club, and he does a message.
“That is why he was invested so personally and emotionally in the situation that was deployed on Sunday in the city of the city. His reaction was one of his depths, responsibility and emotional investment in one of ours. He did not see it as an isolated incident, but as something that reflected the values and unity of the whole team.

“ At times like this, he demonstrates his leadership, not only through words, but also through action and presence. In the final ten minutes of the game, when he saw that our player is clearly in discomfort, fighting for visible pain, he was becoming more difficult for him to keep him on the sidelines. Of the amount that this team and his people mean for him.
“The truth of the matter is that there was no clash, with Nuno or with others, either on the pitch or inside the stadium. There was only frustration shared among all that the medical team should never have allowed the player to continue.
“In the eyes of this, we urge the old coaches and players and other public figures of the game, to resist the desire to send themselves to the trial and false news online, especially when they do not have the full facts and context. The unsuccessful outrage and mischief for the purpose of the personal traction of social networks is useless, less than all the welcomes. Players who usually ask them.
“ In Nottingham Forest, we believe that the mental and physical well-being of our players and the technical staff must always have priority: on media narratives, inflammatory judgments and, certainly, on self-promotion.In times like these, the game must join around those who put their bodies and minds on the line every week. This is the real leadership in our game. ”
