It was a difficult start for Mother of God in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game against Georgia on Thursday.

Things didn’t look much better in Notre Dame’s opener.
Leonard was called for an illegal forward pass after making two pass attempts. His first pass was picked off by Georgia junior Michael Williams. After he caught the ball that ricocheted off Williams’ hand, Leonard threw another incomplete pass.

After the first quarter, the match was tied – 0:0. Georgia’s defense limited Notre Dame to 24 yards in the first quarter. Leonard completed just one pass for 14 yards. In the second quarter, the teams exchanged field goals.
