Former main coach Gary Kirsten, who guided India in the 2011 World Cup title, shared his reflections on Shubman Gill’s captaincy during the five -game test series against England. Kirsten stated that the 25-year-old has a “great potential” to become one of the most leaders of India in the format.
Shubman Gill took over as Indian test captain after Rohit Sharma’s retirement. Gill has given impressive battle performances to the series against England. However, his leadership has had a variety of results. India is currently 1-2 behind the series, with defeats in the first and third test games.

Gary Kirsten said that Shubman Gill is a great thinker and a good player. Kirsten believes that he has the potential to become a higher -test captain in India.

“Well, they are the first days. I think he has great potential. Captaincy is a lot of things you have to gather,” Kirsten said in an interview with Rediff.
“He is a great thinker in the game. He is a good player himself. But there are a lot of things you have to do well. And I think the man’s direction will play, like any leader,” he added.
Shubman Gill is the main scorer in the ongoing test series between India and England. It has accumulated 607 runs in six entrances with an average of 101.16, including three centuries. Rishabh Pant has scored 425 throws of six entrances with an average of 70.83.

Kirsten, who worked closely with Mrs. Dhoni, described the former pattern as an incredible man manager. He added that Shubman Gill should follow Dhoni, saying he would improve his captaincy.
“Dhoni was an incredible man manager. If he can get this component of his leadership, I think he has all the credentials to become a great captain of India,” Kirsten added.
Kirsten and Dhoni guided India in their 2011 World Cup triumph. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, India won three Grand ICC tournaments: the T20 World Cup in 2007, the 2011 Hate World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy, Dhoni also brought India to two wins in the Asia Cup in 2010 and 2016.

Gary Kirsten said he does not know the approach of Gautam Gambhir as coach. Kirsten described Gambhir as hard, strong and someone with a different personality and style.
“Well, I don’t know Gautam, the coach, at all. Gautam, the player, I loved. He has a hardness that is very useful. I think he is really strong. But he has a personality and he has a style. The great thing is that personality and style connects with Indian players? This is really what he will treat,” said Kirsten.
The first stage of Gautam Gambhir as the main coach in the cricket of the red ball has faced settings. India suffered a 3-0 white in his home in New Zealand under his leadership and lost the 3-1 border-border trophy against Australia.
