North Korea has detained three shipbuilding officials for a new warship on Wednesday, state media reports.
During the launch ceremony, part of the 5000-ton destruction was crushed by transferring the vessel out of balance.
The investigation of the incident, which North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called “criminal action”.
The official North Korean news agency has identified the detainees as the chief engineer of the Northern Shipyard -Drimot, where the destroyer was built, as well as the head of construction and administrative manager.
The report states that the three were “responsible for the accident”.
On Friday, KCNA stated that the head of the shipyard, Gan Kil Ho, was summoned by law enforcement.
Satellite images showed that the vessels lying on the side covered with large blue tarpaulin, and part of the vessel appears to be on land.
North Korea’s state media did not mention the loss and injury at the time, humiliating the damage.
KCNA reports that there were no holes on the bottom of the ship – contrary to the original reports.
“Hall conduction was scratched, and a certain amount of seawater fell into the stern,” the agency said.
Kim stated that on Thursday, the accident was caused by “absolute negligence, irresponsibility and non -scientific empiricism.”
He added that those who made “irresponsible mistakes” will be considered at the plenary session next month.
It is unclear what punishment they may face, but the authoritarian state has terrible human rights entries.
It is rare for North Korea to publicly disclose local crashes – although it has done it several times in the past.
This particular accident occurred a few weeks after North Korea introduced a similar 5000-ton destroyer, Chow Hyon.
Kim called this warship “breakthrough” in the modernization of the North Korea fleet and said it would be deployed early next year.
