Former President Costa Rica, Oscar Arias, says his visa in the US has been canceled.
Arias, Nobel laureate, said he was informed about the decision a few weeks after he publicly criticized Donald Trump, comparing the behavior of the US president with the Roman emperor.
The 84-year-old guy, who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in Central America, said the US authorities did not give explanations.
However, Arias hinted that it could be due to its rapprochement with China for the time when he was president from 2006 to 2010.
Speaking to a press conference in the Costa Rica capital, San Khase, Arias said he “did not represent” what is the reason for the cancellation.
He said he had received a few lines from the US government, which reported the decision.
He added that he believed that it was not the President of Trump, but the US State Department has decided.
Although he said that he would think about the reason for canceling the visa, he noted that “I had established diplomatic relations with China.

The Trump administration sought to oppose China’s influence in the Western Hemisphere and accused a number of Central America’s governments of thinking in Chinese and Chinese companies.

Arias is not the only Costa -Leap who canceled his visa in the US. Three members of the National Assembly of the country who opposed President Chavez’s decree to exclude Chinese companies involved in 5G development also canceled them.
