Nitish Kumar Reddy became the latest Team India player to suffer an injury as the youngster was ruled out of the entire T20i series against England. Reddy was in the squad for the five-match T20i series and even played the first match of the series.
However, he suffered a side injury during the training session ahead of the second T20i in Chennai. After passing the scans, Reddy was ruled out from the entire series. Former India all-rounder Aakash Chopra has opened up about the nature of Reddy’s injury
Chopra feels that the workload might have increased on the young all-rounder which increased the pressure on him. According to him, the heavy workload of the last few months might have worked against Nitish Kumar Reddy, which injured him.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra spoke about Nitish Kumar Reddy’s injury which ruled him out of the entire T20i series against England. Chopra feels the workload of international cricket might have gotten to the youngster as he played all five Tests in Australia.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy is injured. He has been ruled out for the whole series. You have to think, ‘What would have happened?’ “I wonder how that would have happened.
“Workload and pressure go hand in hand. He played five Tests in Australia. He performed there. He was on the ground constantly. He batted and even overturned a bit. He has weight. Believe it or not no, he’s a little boy. The body sometimes doesn’t last long,” he noted
Nitish Kumar Reddy has been an integral part of the Indian team in both Test and T20i format. The allrounder has been impressive in both formats and has shown the temperament to score big runs.
Aakash Chopra gave his opinion and stated that Nitish Kumar Reddy’s body was not ready for a workload that led to the injury. Reddy was replaced by another Fast Bowling Allrounder Shivam Dube.
“All of a sudden you realize there’s an injury. I think something happened. Maybe the body wasn’t ready for that kind of workload and pressure and it broke down. Shivam Dube has been called into the squad at Nitish Kumar Reddy’s place,” Chopra said.
Along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, Rinku Singh was also ruled out for at least the second and third T20IS. Rinku experienced a lower back spasm while on the field in the first T20i. The BCCI is closely monitoring his body and he is likely to return to the field soon.
Nitish Kumar Reddy made his debut in the Frontier-Gavaskar Trophy where he scored 298 runs in five Tests at an average of 37.25 and emerged as the second highest run-getter in the series. He scored his maiden Test at the iconic MCG.
The tackle also took five doctors with the seam bowling. The 21-year-old is seen as a key player for India going forward with his exceptional all-round skills.
