IBF champion Nina Meinke faces Long Road with only 20% of full recovery
Nina Meinke, the reign of the Queen of the IBF of the IBF of Germany, has undergone emergency surgery after months of parallel pain and an alarming diagnosis that put her career and mobility at a serious risk. The operation, triggered by a dangerously compressed nerve, aimed to avoid the permanent loss of function in the right leg.
Doctors acted quickly. They had to do it. The alternative was irreversible damage.
Now the surgery is behind, but the brutal truth is: it has a long and uncertain path ahead.
What began as pain in the back and legs was encouraged in a medical crisis. The doctors found a nerve in the lower column that was crushed to the point where it was days of losing the whole feeling in the right leg.
When the image confirmed the extension of the compression, Meinke rushed to surgery under the care of a world -renowned spinal specialist. The procedure was successful but not without probabilities: it only has one 20% of full recovery.
That said, there is a shin of hope: it has already recovered some Movement. Small steps, but those who matter.
Its rehabilitation begins in 2-3 weeks.
In a raw and honest update, Meinke broke his silence:
“I know a lot of people wondered why I suddenly disappeared from the public eye. The truth is that I was losing the worst pain of my life.”
Also revealed the sudden of the situation:
“It was an absolute clash when I learned that I needed immediate surgery, with only 20% chance of recovering -me. I was right in the midst of planning a new new project and discussing the next potential struggles when I received the news.”
“Right now, my only goal is to do it step by step, return to life and, in hope, return to the ring.”
For now, its goal is 100% in recovery. Boxing can wait.
