Nikhil Chaudhary’s brutal shot sends umpire Sharad Patel on his face in a hilarious BBL moment


Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary had a decent outing with bat and ball in the match against Adelaide Strikers in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25. The game between the two teams took place on Sunday (January 5) at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

Nikhil Chaudhary bowled two with the ball and also played a good hand with the bat. The Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder kept his side in the hunt in the chase of 187 as he held on at one end as wickets continued to tumble at the other end.

Chasing the target, the Hobart Hurricanes were reeling at 101/4 and under massive pressure. It was then that Nikhil Chaudhary along with Tim David came together and bailed the team out of trouble, bringing them closer to the target.

While Chaudhary played the anchor role, David was at his brutal best. Their partnership frustrated the Adelaide Strikers batsman as they added 75 runs that almost sealed the game for the Hobart Hurricanes and put the Adelaide Strikers bowlers under massive pressure.

During his innings, Chaudhary’s shot almost brought leg umpire Sharad Patel down. On the 5th ball of the 12th, D Arcy Short bowled a googly to leg stump, which the batsman swept to deep backward square. The referee, who was stationed there, tried to get out of the way but fell badly to the ground.

Nikhil Chaudhary finished with an innings of 22 runs off 22 balls with two boundaries. But after he got out, it was Tim David who took the responsibility and made sure that he led his team to win the match against Adelaide Strikers and earn two important points.

Tim David played an unbeaten innings of 62 runs off 28 balls. The all-rounder batted at a strike rate of over 222 and also hit 3 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. His knock propelled the Hobart Hurricanes to a 5-wicket win as they chased down the target with 8 balls to spare.

Earlier in the match, Chris Lynn played a vital innings for the Adelaide Strikers. He scored 49 runs off 27 balls. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his innings, batting at a strike rate of around 182, and tore his team apart with the bat. He was heavily supported by Ollie Pope and Alex Ross.

While Pope played a decent hand of 33, and Alex Ross, who scored 47 runs, in the team to the big total on the board. From the collective effort with the bat, Adelaide Strikers posted a total of 186 runs on the board.
