Niger’s military leader swore the country’s president for five years.
General Zhurahman Tiani has headed the country since 2023, after he abandoned the elected President Niger Mohammed Bazum.
On Wednesday, General Tiani adopted the presidential service under the new charter, which replaces the Constitution of West Africa.
It was also transferred to the highest military rank of army in the country and signed a decree that all political parties would be dissolved.
During the ceremony in the Niame, General Tiani, said about his new military title: “I get this difference with great humility … I will seek the trust posted by me.”
The transition to democratic government is in accordance with the recommendations that the commission after national discussions.
This five -year period of time is “flexible” depending on the country’s security status, says the new charter.
Niger suffered from jihadist attacks over the years – one of the questions quoted by Junta leaders during his coup.
Military absorptions followed a number of others in the region – neighboring Mali, Guinea and Burkina -fos are also run by Juntas.
All four countries broke ties with the former colonial power of France and created new alliances with Russia.
And all but Guinea came out of the Ecowas, the West African regional bloc.
Niger’s relationship with ecowas broke when the junta offered a three -year transitional period to democratic government immediately after the coup.
Ecowas called this plan a “provocation” and threatened to intervene using force before refusing.
General Tiani’s administration is prosecuted by the former President Bazum for allegations of treason and national security.
The base is still held at the Presidential Palace with his wife, and his son received a temporary issue in January last year.
According to the State Agency of Information Agency, General Tiani said the new Niger’s Statute is in line with traditional constitutions, but also takes “unprecedented measures to protect our natural resources, so that Nigeris really won from the exploitation of his wealth.”
