Nigeria’s Government prohibits Edris Abdulkarem, criticizing President Tinubo

Nigeria’s authorities have banned the broadcasters to play the song “Tell your dad that criticizes the country’s leader.

The lyrics of the songs by the artist Edris Abdulkarem, President Slam Ball Tinuba and call on his influential Son’s son to tell his father “people dying” through difficulties and uncertainty, and there is a “hunger” in the country.

In a letter to television and radio stations, the National Translation Commission (NBC), which issues a license and regulated the industry, ordered the track not to play, saying that it violates the country’s broadcasting code.

NBC has said it is believed that the content of your dad is “inappropriate” and “undesirable” adding that it does not meet the standards of public decency.

The song, released earlier in the week, has attracted a lot of attention in the social media in Nigeria and provoked a discussion on the economic situation and security in the country.

Becoming president in May 2023, Tinubu presented a number of economic reforms that increased the cost of life.

He threw a subsidy for fuel, which has long kept gasoline prices, saying that the government could no longer afford it. Then the fuel prices jumped sharply, which had a stuffed effect on the rest of the economy.

Annual inflation was above 30% over much of last year, and the price of some major food products increased even more.

This made some Nigerians reduce the number of dishes they eat a day, and the amount of food they consume.

There is also a concern for the level of uncertainty in the country with abductions to correct the main problem and fears that the Islamist group of Boko Haram militants can make a revival in the northeast.

On the track, in a mixture of English, Yoruba and Pidgin Abdulkarem tells his son Tinuba that his father “did not try” and that he made “too many empty promises”.

When it comes to uncertainty, the artist urges Seya to travel on the road, not private planes, to experience the danger that ordinary Nigerians face.

The Tinubo government in the past has defended its economic policy, saying that the president sought to put the country on a stable basis in the long run.

In order to fight short -term pain, the authorities have a permanent transfer scheme to help 15 million poor Nigerian households.

As for security, the government stated that the situation has improved over the last 18 months.

The NBC licensing body may authorize broadcasters for ignoring orders. In the past, they fined the station and dismissed the violation licenses.

Abdulkareem is not new to dispute when it recorded a similar song in the past.

In 2003, he released his most popular tune today – Nigeria Jaga, that is, “Nigeria ruined.”

At that time, President Olousgun Abasanjo reacted hard, publicly insulting Abdulkare. The song was forbidden for broadcasters, but gained popularity among the Nigerians and became a street anthem.
