A24 Nicole Kidman was, well, floored by one review of her upcoming film Babygirl. “I think it’s very liberating, this film. The memorable milk moment is a nod to Kidman’s character in the film, Romy, who is the seemingly perfect mother and wife at home and total boss at work, serving as CEO of her company. In one memorable scene, Romy is sitting at a bar with friends and colleagues when Samuel sends her a glass of milk from across the room. The gesture surprises him, but eventually Romy lifts the cup and drinks every drop while keeping his gaze on Samuel.

The pair, who are at the beginning of their relationship, exchange intense and steamy looks as Romy finishes the milk and wipes the residue from her lip.

Later Samuel walks past Romy and whispers, “Good girl.”

The sexy and stunning scene was inspired by the writer, director and co-producer Halina Reijn‘s real life experience.

“I went to a bar, and I ordered something boring like a Diet Coke because I didn’t drink then because I was a ‘control freak’. There was this young Belgian actor – I can’t say who he is – but he was famous,” Reijn said IndieWire in December 2024. “I knew about it. I had never spoken to him. He was at least 15 years younger than me, and he ordered me a glass of milk.”

She recalled thinking it was “an amazing, hot thing to do and so brave,” so she decided to “reward him by drinking it all.”

Reijn admitted she was “a little nauseous” after she finished the glass, but that didn’t stop her from having “one of the most exciting moments of my life.”
