“There is so much out there, there is so much information to find that regular doctors, generally practically not give you,” she claimed, noting that it focuses on finding out how it can prevent the cancer from returning in the future. .
“Chemo is a beast. And they threw me the strongest. Eggert said that outside the breast cancer community, she also gets a ton of support from her two daughters, Dylan 27, which she shares with ex Justin Herwickand Keegan, 13. (Keegan’s father’s name is not publicly revealed.)
“My oldest lives in New York so she didn’t have to witness much of it as my young one did but they are supportive, they bring me to a place of taking out myself too, because when you’re a mother it gives you a purpose and keeps you from feeling angry for yourself,” explains Eggert. “You have things to do and you have this role to play. Life is so much more than yourself when you are a mother or parent.”
Eggert shared that her daughters had given her a “sense of responsibility to get health and stay healthy,” noting that they would often look at how she was going to “treat her.”
“This is this moment, ‘I have to show them how you roll your sleeves and not crush,” he said. “It has given me a lot of motivation, it has given me my purpose.”
She joked, in terms of her tween, Keegan, that she was also a “Uber Di -Redeemer” who often removes her mind from her health struggle. “I have to be a mother. There are dinners to do and rides to give and things to do and it distracts so well,” he added.
Keegan has also had to “go through emotionally” with her mother as well, Eggert said, remembering back at the start of her diagnosis when she was “overwhelmed and over -told” and the pair would have to rely on each other.
“We’ll look at her and she would say, ‘Are you okay?’ And we got this moment early where he said, ‘I don’t know what to do or what to say,’ and I said, ‘It’s not right, I don’t need to sit, let’s sit and embrace and be quiet.’ And we learn together like that.
Eggert was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024 after finding a lump during self -examination. Mamogram and three biopsy confirmed her diagnosis.
