The Chelsea has taken Nicolas Jackson from his loans to the Bayern Munich, and ordered the striker to return to London, despite the fact that the 24 -year -old was already traveling to Germany for a medical.
The decision comes after Liam Delap suffered an injury to an hamstrings at 2-0 Saturday victory over Fulham, with Manager Enzo Maresca warned that the striker could be left up to eight weeks.
He leaves Chelsea suddenly in an attack, with João Pedro, who has scored five goals in five games, as the only senior forward in the club.
The dramatic change followed a frantic 24 hours in which Christopher Nkunku sealed a £ 36 million to AC Milan, Jackson flew to Germany to end his loan and got rid of the first hour of the Stamford bridge.
Sources report that Jackson is frustrated by the collapse of the £ 13 million agreement, although efforts could still be made to resuscitate him.
When asked about the situation after Fulham’s game, Maresca admitted that he had “no idea” if Jackson’s switch would advance, adding:
“When you have two forwards, it is enough. When one of them is injured for different weeks, probably not enough.”
The Chelsea must face the Bayern in the Champions League on September 17, and Jackson will now remain available for the selection.
