The Brazilian star Neymar has made it clear that he has no intention of hanging his boots at any time, insisting that he will continue to play until he can no longer fulfill his own standards.
The 33-year-old striker recently renewed his agreement with Santos, committing to stay with his children’s club until the end of the year, with the option of extending to the World Cup in 2026.
In an interview led by close friends and family, Neymar’s wife, Bruna Biancardi, asked him what motivated him to continue to play professionally. The former star of Barcelona and PSG said:
โWhat drives me is the love I still feel for football.
“The desire I feel to play, to be on the pitch, this is what drives me every day; wake up -me, train -me. The love I feel for football will never end. It will stay with me the rest of my life. At some point, the desire to play, because I can no longer do it, because I can no longer act as I want, it will end.
“While I have the desire to play football, you will have to share -me, my love.”
Neymar returned to Santos earlier this year after terminating his contract with Hilal, where he endured a hard career marked by injuries.
A serious tear of the ACL suffered during the international duty with Brazil in October 2023 significantly limited his time to the pitch.
Neymar repeats it again and again: his premium was in PSG! โค๏ธ๐๐ฅ

Since his comeback, he has won only three goals and three assists in 15 appearances in Santos in 2025, with repeated muscle mishap stops his efforts to recover a place in the configuration of the national team.
Throughout his career, Neymar has been under the microscope, not only for his performances, but also because of his lifestyle out of the field. Designing this during the same interview, it opened the number that the public trial has taken.
“I can’t control other people’s thoughts,” he told his wife.
“It is difficult to respond to people who do not understand absolutely nothing in our lives … Judging is easy, but it is difficult to understand what is behind.
“I have spent my entire career a little sad because of the people who do not know me talking about me and not just football.
“I know I’m a good person, it’s difficult to face -Me. I would like them to give more importance to what really matters, on the pitch.
“Today, with the Internet and social networks, it is difficult for people to focus only on the athlete.
“It is bad, sad, to be judged in a certain way, sometimes even hated by people who do not know me, who are not part of my daily life, who do not know the effort I make for me and my family. It is difficult to stop and see on the Internet what is not reality.
“I have a strong mindset when it comes to the internet. I can look at it, but it doesn’t hurt me, it doesn’t hurt me mentally.”
“My football career will end, my name will remain in history, but it will end, the years will spend, other players and generations will come and they will come. I always say that the people who know me are what matters.”
