With less than two days to go before President-elect Donald Trump returns to office, the new ‘border czar’ Tom Homan shared insight into the administration’s deportation plans to address the border crisis and illegal immigration.
Incoming The Trump administration reviews immigration arrests of illegal immigrants across the country on the first day that top officials say they are ready to “take the handcuffs off” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“They will be targeted force actions,” Homan said on the air “Fox News Live“on Saturday.
“When ICE comes out, they’re going to know exactly who they’re looking for, pretty much where they’re going to find them. This is a well-planned operation. They will know possibly who is in the family, including the children. this is a well-planned force operation.”
TRUMP DETAILS STRATEGY FOR GETTING NECESSARY VOTES WITH ONE-BAR APPROACH TO BORDER AND TAXES
This is reported by the Wall Street Journal that the administration is planning a massive raid in Chicago on Tuesday, specifically targeting those with criminal records.
“President Trump has been clear from day one, from the beginning of the campaign to today, that he will secure the border and conduct a deportation operation. There should be consequences for breaking our laws,” Homan told host Mike Emanuel.
“President Trump had it. He has no patience. We are about to start this operation. We are going to fulfill the mandate that the American people gave him.”
The administration promised a a mass deportation operationas well as strengthening border protection. Officials said they intended to target those with criminal histories and criminal records, but also stressed that they would potentially arrest anyone in the United States illegally. More than 7 million people are currently on ICE’s non-detainer list.
“We’re going to go back to the most secure border in my lifetime that President Trump had during his first administration, but this time we’re going to get the job done. When you protect the border, you save lives,” Homan. argued.
Homan also addressed the expected pushback from “sanctuary” cities. that refuse to allow state and local law enforcement agencies to honor ICE detainers — requests that ICE be notified when illegal immigrants in custody are released.
“How many young women must be raped, killed and burned alive before the sanctuary cities realize this? It’s about public safety,” Homan said. “Every elected official, whether you’re mayor, governor or city council member, your number one responsibility is to protect your own community. Help us. Have a seat at the table and help us. We’re not asking you to be immigration officials asking to help make your communities safer for those who are here illegally.”
