Netflix’s original sci-fi slasher uses time travel to prevent killing

This week I watched the time -traveling slasher movie, A chopping timeDid I help me find my true call: I will now devote the rest of my life to build my own time machine so I can go back to last week and warn myself for how terrible A chopping time is.

What sounded to me as a fun film for a teenager for a girl traveling 21 years into the past to save her older sister from being murdered, finished playing out as a “Aeron member” episode of South Park, but unanimously. More than that, time travel rules are rarely applied or considered A chopping timeMaking the whole thing fall apart because our main character probably does not face any consequences for their actions on a changing timeline it finds itself.

If you don’t believe me then you can watch A chopping time at your own risk.

The sweet slasher, and Lucy the silver medal

A chopping time

A chopping time Starts in the year 2003, when a high school girl called Summer Field (Antonia Gentry) is murdered by a serial murderer hidden in a spring fling celebration held in a barn that appears as a perfect place for a serial murderer murdered someone called Summer Field. 21 years later, the younger sister of Summer, Lucy (Madison Bailey), lives in the shadow of her older sister because her parents, Kendra (Rachael Cawford) and Gil (Michael Shanks), never came over her death. In fact, Lucy was only conceived as a means of replacing a summer, only to be ignored by her parents because she not Summer.

Early Cutting time, We are told that Lucy is accepted into an internship for NASA, which is important for some reason.

Does this mean Lucy makes a time machine?

Nope!

Lucy happens to stumble on a time machine in the barn whose sister was murdered in 21 years earlier, and it happens to be ready to beam to the past … the week her sister is murdered. There is literally no reason to suggest that Lucy is in space and technology things because it is subject to the time machine’s whimses by happening, but here we are.

When you are in a broken time you are a family

A chopping time

Lucy and Summer’s family eat at Olive Garden, like, three times in A chopping time. When Lucy goes back to warning the summer about the murderer, and her family takes her to Olive Garden, Lucy asks if they still have unlimited bread sticks in 2003, and is delighted to find that they do.

I’m pretty sure these multiple product settings for Olive Garden were somehow responsible for funding A chopping time Because these scenes have got the most in them to inform the audience that Olive Garden is not, in fact, a restaurant that simply exists within fiction A chopping timeBut it’s a real -life restaurant you could go to right now for a memorable dining experience at a reasonable price.

Also, flip phones? Wow, that’s so 2003 … they really nailed nostalgia here. They did such a great job that they didn’t even need to get a montage dressed up to let everyone know that the clothes they wear from 2003 while Avril Lavigne music played in the background.

But they do it anyway.

Timeline semantics makes no sense

A chopping time

All the point A chopping time is for Lucy to ensure that his older sister, Summer, is not killed. But as she interferes with the Serial killerMurders leading to the summer, she makes things worse (more people die than on the original timeline). Then she flattened out telling Summer that she’s going to be killed, who gets them, and their friend Geeky, Quinn (Griffin Gluck), to draw up a plan to save her.

But if the summer lives, and Lucy was conceived by Kendra and Gily so they had a new girl to take him to Olive Garden on the original timeline, then Save the Summer would cause Lucy to stop existing, right?

You wish.

And wait until you discovered the murderer’s identity, which literally caused me to say “Oh, f*ck you” and leave the room so I can scream into a pillow without waking up my family before resuming the film.

A chopping time. Stream it Netflix. Or no.

Those are your options.
