I miss seeing all the familiar faces every morning, joking around, making this show we love to do so much,” he told Tvline in April. “I feel very lucky. North guaranteed that season 2 would give a “answer” for the fate of Lala. Meanwhile, Monreal suggested that this was always the plan to end the season with Lala’s life in the balance.
“That was our ultimate goal from the beginning to make a show that fans of the original show love them and feel they are satisfied. But (there is) too (a show) that new viewers can come in from the beginning of NCIS: Origins,” explains Monreal. “Viewers can jump in and not be confusing and actually get involved with our characters and their stories. We’ve always approached him from that point of view. I feel we’ve succeeded.”
He continued: “We are really keen to stick to a cannon (events). We are strict about that. We want to pay respect for maternity. We have both written (for) the maternity and love that show. But we also love to branch out our new characters and dig into their emotional lives.”
