Namibian Agriculture Minister was fired after the 16-year-old girl’s rape five years ago.
Police said Mc albert Hengari was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly tried to bribe the victim that is now 21.
The 59 -year -old Hengari, who refused any violations, appeared in court on Monday and was denied a bail.
This is the first major scandal for the first Namibian woman Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah because he took office last month.
The president’s statement did not indicate the reasons for the dismissal, but stated that Hengari was also fired from the National Assembly.
President Hengari was nominated to the parliament to present the ruling party of Swap.
It is under investigation on several accusations related to the case, including abduction, rape and attack, police said.
On Monday, he appeared in the court of the magistrates in the capital Windhuk, who collided with the accusation of justice.
He and his compatriot will remain in custody until June 3, when the next hearing is scheduled. They were denied an application that they could be a risk of flying and may seek to contact witnesses.
Opposition independent patriots have stated that the arrest of Hengari “on charges of rape, abduction and forced abortion” was “deep failure of leadership and exposing the rhetoric of government violence.”
It states that the case occurred amid “broad gender violence”, last year reported 4814 cases of gender violence. There are three million in the country.
The party also criticized the inspection process, stating that the president had appointed Hengari, “despite the fact that a criminal investigation was opened in November 2024.”

A 72-year-old man won the November election with a 58% share of votes.
She is a long-term member of Swapo-which was in power after the country gained independence in 1990 after a long fight against apartheid South Africa.
