The details of the accusations – which Paterson denied – were supplied to defend the case, but now they can be released for the first time.
Three people were killed in the hospital on the days after lunch on July 29, 2023: former son-in-law, 70th Don Paterson, and 70th Gayl Paterson, as well as sister Gayl, Heather Wilkinson, 66 years.

Mr. Paterson shared his suspicions with a couple of relatives – including that his father Don Paterson – then a doctor, but did not take further.
He said he thought he was the only one who was in danger – and so he refused to come for lunch.
When his parents were desperately ill, Mr. Paterson pulled his relatives into the hospital chapel and told them that he suspected his remote wife had tried to poison him for years.
