In Iran, the mourning appeals to anger after a huge explosion in its largest commercial port killed at least 40 people and suffered more than 1000.
The blast occurred on Saturday morning at the port of Shahida Raja. A lot of people rushed to the hospital up and down the country to give blood.
A day later, the fires are still burning when a thick black cloud of toxic chemicals hangs in the neighborhood.
People in the nearby cities and cities of the Ministry of Health ordered to remain indoors “until further notice” and wear more protective clothes.
In the neighboring southern city of Bandar Abbas, where the main base of the Iran’s Navy, all schools and offices were ordered to close Sunday to allow the authorities to focus on emergencies, state television said.
The local festival near the port of Shahida Raji, which was to be celebrated spontaneously in the solemn occasion for the memory of the dead and pray for the wounded.
Authorities announced the day of the national mourning on Monday, two more days of mourning in the province of Hormazgan.
This is a reminder that while Iran was deteriorated by the physically explosion – Residents up to 50 km (31 miles) reported a sense of consequences – The country is now swinging on a growing guilt.
Ambray Intelligence, Private Counseling at Maritime Risk, said he believed that intensive fires that can be seen, spreading between the containers to the blast were the result of “improper processing of solid fuel shipment designed for use in Iranian ballistic missiles.”
The firm said that the injured containers contained solid fuel intended for ballistic missiles and was aware that in March 2025, the Iranian ship was thrown away by sodium rocket fuel in the port. “
The New York Times quotes a man related to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Corps, provided with anonymity, as they say that what has exploded was sodium perchlorate – the main ingredient in solid missile fuel.
Some Iranians ask if they should believe the speculation in the social media, which states that the military and revolutionary guard of Iran retain rocket fuel, which they recently imported from China into the port – a statement that the Army press secretary denied.
Many in Iran blame the authorities of incompetence and worse, asking: how much of the inflamed material is apparently left in the port without proper care?
This is a question that Iran’s regime will need to be resolved. Iranian President Masud Pescin visited the blast on Sunday, saying: “We came to look at firsthand if there is anything or any question that can follow the government.”
Earlier, Pescin ordered an explosion case, sending the Interior Minister to the region to head it.
The Ministry of Defense spokesman Reza Talay-Nik later reported that “there was no import and exported cargo for military fuel or military use in the area.”
In reporting in the Customs office of the port, it is said that the explosion was likely to occur as a result of a fire that began in the shelter of dangerous and chemical materials.
There is also the question of whether Iran can affect the Iran’s economy, given that the port handles almost 80% of the country’s imports.
On Saturday, the authorities warned of a possible food shortages soon when the port is out of the action.
A day later, they played this, saying that the explosion affected only a portion of the port and that the rest operated normally.
The image from the Iranian news agency Tasnim on Sunday showed that the helicopter flew across the sky, blackened with smoke to throw water at a stunning catastrophe, AFP reports.
Others showed that the firefighters work among the overthrown and blackened cargo containers, as well as the victim’s bodies. Authorities closed the roads leading to the site.
The Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered many specialized fire fighting planes to Iran to help fight the consequences of the catastrophe.
The Foreign Ministry in Beijing said AFP on Sunday that three Chinese victims were in a “stable” state and did not receive additional reports of victims.
Among the departure condolences were the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Turkey, United Nations and Russia organizations.
The explosion broke through the port when Iranian and US delegations met through the media in Oman for high -level talks under Tehran’s nuclear program, both sides report progress.
Iran said it was open to contain its nuclear program in return for weakening sanctions, but insists that it will not cease to enrich Uranus. This insists on its nuclear program for civil use.
