Mohsin Naqvi, PCB officers, boycotted the Champions League Trophy Final Presentation ceremony? The truth revealed

The International Cricket Council (ICC) faces criticism of the absence of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials of the Champions Championship presentation ceremony 2025. No PCB official was seen during the Dubai trophy presentation on Sunday, March 9, despite the Pakistan being the host nation.

Pakistan was the nation’s official host nation, but India played all its games, including the final, in Dubai. India won the title with a four -wicket victory over New Zealand. Above all, the final was scheduled for Lahore, but the game was played in Dubai since India reached the final.

PCB President Mohsin Naqvi, not present at the final presentation ceremony

According to a report by GEO News, PCB President Mohsin Naqvi was expected to attend, but could not travel to Dubai for health reasons.

However, the Operational Director of PCB (COO) and the director of the tournament, Sumir Ahmed Syed, was present in the final in Dubai, but the CPI did not include it in the presentation ceremony. This decision has been considered by many as a deliberate elimination.

“The President could not travel, but the COO Sumir Ahmed Syed was there and attended the final. He should have been on stage to represent the PCB,” said a source close to the matter.

In the meantime, a CPI spokesman told India Today that only PCB office carriers could attend the ceremony after the game and that no one was present in Dubai.

“Mr. Naqvi was not available and did not travel. According to the understanding, only office carriers can be requested for the presentation of the trophy, so that from PCB there were no office carriers available for it. And they (PCB) were the hosts, they should have been there,” said the CPI spokesman.

Former Australian Captain Aaron Finch brings the trophy to stage

ICC President Jay Shah presented the Champions Trophy to win Captain Rohit Sharma, while BCCI President Roger Binny delivered the White Blazers to the Indian team. Other stage dignitaries included the former Captain of Australia Aaron Finch, the former New Zealand player Roger Twose and the Secretary of BCCI Devajit Saikia.

Aaron Finch took the trophy to the stage instead of Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan captain who won the previous edition of the Champions Trophy.

The report added that the ICC had the entire authority in deciding the composition of the presentation match for the final of the Champions Trophy. However, the governing body has not yet published any official statement on the controversy.

“According to sources, it was the ICC who had the entire composition of the presentation party.

Pakistan failed to win a single match on 2025 Champions Trophy

Pakistan had a disastrous campaign at the Champions Trophy of 2025. They failed to win a single game and suffered a departure in the group phase, despite being the host nation and defending champions.

They launched their campaign at the tournament with a loss of 60 in New Zealand in Karachi. The team led by Mohammad Rizwan lost to India by six doctors in Dubai. His final match of group A against Bangla desh in Rawalpindi was washed due to rain.

This tournament was the first ICC event in Pakistan after 29 years. However, the team played only one game at home, making their first departure even more disappointing for the fans.
