Former Pakistan The Cricter Basit Ali has expressed its disappointment by the President of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi Dubai For the presentation of the Trophy of the ICC Champions 2025 Final Trophy. He said that, being the host, he should have gone to attend the final.
The ICC Final Champions Trophy 2025 took place between India and New Zealand Sunday, March 9). The match took place at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, and saw big names from BCCI, ICC and NZC attending the party and being there at the presentation ceremony of the Trophy..
But what caught the attention of many was that there was no one from PCB, who was the host of the tournament. President Mohsin Naqvi did not travel to Dubai for personal reasons, and instead, the Operational Director Sumir Ahmed, who was the director of the Champions Trophy Trophy, attended the final in Dubai.
But Sumir Ahmed was not invited to the stage for the final presentation. CPI President Jay Shah, BCCI President Roger Binny, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia and New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Roger Twose were the individuals present on stage for the ceremony.
With PCB officials they cannot be on stage, there has been a massive controversy related to it. The governing body filed an official complaint to the ICC, who did not heed his demands, saying he was against the CPI protocols to keep the director of the tournament on stage.
In the midst of all the mess, Basit Ali presented his verdict. Basis said PCB President Mohsin Naqvi has his own plane and therefore could be easy and back. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he said:
“Mohsin Naqvi, who is the President of the PCB, should have gone to Dubai. This is my opinion. Because he has his plane. Being the host of the Champions Trophy, he could have gone and return the same night. He only knows what was there. But he should have gone,” said Basit Ali.
Basit Ali also pointed out the error made by Jay Shah. He said he should not have sat with BCCI officials because he is now chairman of the CPI. Former Pakistani Cricter also admitted that there was no one on Pakistan’s podium because the president was not there.
“Jay Shah was there. He also made a small error and Is not the BCCI secretary now. Is the head of the ICC and Should have been sitting elsewhere. When you have a position like this, you also need to be careful with the media. There was no one from Pakistan in the distribution of the prize because the president of the PCB was not there. “
