Mohammed Shami makes a triumphant comeback in India T20i series for England

After an exceeding absence from injury, the fast diaper Mohammed Shami will join the Indian team for the T20i series of five games against England, from January 22 in Kolkata. Shami, who last played in India in the World Hate Cup final in November 2023, underwent ankle surgery and fought against the knee related problems during his recovery period.

Shami’s Road to Recovery

Since returning to the competitive cricket in November 2024, Shami has presented his form of resilience and form. He appeared in the nine Bengal matches at the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, alleating 11 doctors with a 7.85 economy rate. While playing fewer games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, his performances were commendable, with five doctors with an average of 25.80. Despite speculations on his return to India’s tests during the Australian tour, the swelling of the knee delayed his comeback. Now fully in shape, the inclusion of Shami brings depth and experience to the rhythm attack.


The highlights of the squad

Suryakumar Yadav will direct the T20i template, with Axar Patel named Vice-Capitan– An absent designation in the previous ads of the workforce. Rishabh Pant, Yasse Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have been rested after their participation in the recent test series in Australia. Sanju Samson and DHRUV Jury will manage the functions of Wicketeteping, and Juryl made a remarkable entrance to the workforce.

Selectors have also brought fresh faces, replacing several players from the squad that triumphed in South -Africa. New inclusions such as Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana and Washington Sundar return after their commitments to the Australian test series.

Key omissions

Among the highlights are Jasprit Bumrah, his state of injury is still uncertain after his inability to do in the fifth test against Australia. Riyan Parag is not available due to a shoulder injury, while Ramandeep Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal and Vijaykumar Vyshak have been left out after their previous appearances in T20i in South -Africa.

Schedule and challenges ahead


India will face England through five T20iS a Kolkata, Chennai, Rajkot, Pune and Mumbai between January 22 and February 2. The series serves as a crucial preparation for the Champions Trophy, from February 19.

After T20IS, India will host three hatred in Nagpur (February 6), Cuttack (February 9) and Ahmedabad (February 12). These parties will be the only hatred of India before Marquee’s ICC event.
