India Pacer of the national cricket team Mohammed Shami has become the talk of the town since the last day. This is because he was not in the playing eleven for the first T20I against the England National Cricket Team, which took place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday (January 22).
Mohammed Shami, who played his last match for India in the 2023 ICC World Cup, was all set to make a comeback in the ongoing T20Is. series against the England national cricket team. He was included in the squad to regain his pace ahead of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
It was almost certain that, with Mohammed Shami declaring in form, he would make a comeback in the first T20I. However, it came as a huge surprise when the pacer was left out of the playing XI despite having trained consistently with the team in recent days.
Shami bowled for almost half an hour in the side nets before the match. Although, he still has a strap on his left knee, the fast bowler had bowled at full speed in the Indian nets in all his sessions before the first match of the series against the national cricket team England
PTI reports claimed that though Shami looks fit. He bowled at full speed without the attention of the medical team even though he had to stick his knees. But he learns that some discomfort came when he returned to the dressing room.
Shami moved cautiously as he took measured steps, apparently keeping an eye on his left leg. The Indian national cricket team fast bowler’s injury does not appear to be serious and he is expected to play some role in the next four matches of the T20I series.
Mohammed Shami has been named in the Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Indian National Cricket Team player will be key for his team in the tournament and the management would hope that he regains his form full before the event, which will be played in February.
Coming to the first T20I between Indian National Cricket Team and England National Cricket Team, the hosts won the match by a margin of 7 wickets. They grouped the Yes Butler– led the side for 132 runs and then chased down the target within 13 overs to go 1-0 up in the series.
The next match of the series will be played on Saturday (January 25) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It remains to be seen whether Mohammed Shami will be part of the squad for the match or not.
