Mohammad Kaif has come out in teams due to the growing trend of retiring to baptisms fighting at the IPL in progress 2025. The tactic is under fire to be a movement of despair instead of strategy, and now Mohammad Kaif caused a new debate on the trend.
It all started when the Mumbai Indians shocked fans when they removed to Tilak Varma during their crash against Lucknow Super Giants. Chennai Super Kings did not wait long to follow the same, removing Devon Conway in his game against Punjab Kings. But instead of turning the tide, both teams crashed against the losses.
Both Tilak Varma and Devon Conway tickets forced their respective teams to use the rule in the hope of winning the game by introducing a fresh batter. Kaif was not really impressed by decision -making, and said how these movements often occur.

The old Indian batter said that the teams are now based on new batters to enter and deliver the one dance magic instead of trusting a batter with trouble bouncing, but this game is rarely paid. Kaif also cited the example of the iconic change of Rahul Tewatia.
Feeling teams are making scholars who ultimately cost them the game. Above all, Tewatia won five in a sprinkle of Sheldon Cottrell and helped Rajasthan Royals win the IPL 2020 game against Punjab Kings.
Mohammad Kaif published in X: “Teams that use the most retreat option for frustration. It is a tactic that rarely works, as there are very few batters that can reach 6 in the first ball they face. Most times it is the mayor with problems that has a best chance of winning the game. Remember Tewatia? He hit five six in 5 balls after he had made 8 rens of 19.”

In 2023, Atharva Taide retired when Punjab Kings decided to send a new batter against Delhi capitals. Later that same season, Sai Sudharsan, of Gujarat Titans, also left against the Mumbai Indians.
Speaking of new incidents, Devon Conway beat well and scored 69 runs of 49 balls. But on the 18th, Conway was asked to give rise to Ravindra Jadja, as it did not coincide with the necessary execution rate. Jadja came to beat with 49 still needed runs of only 13 balls, and it was too late, as CSK lost the game by 18 runs against the PBKs.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians sent Tilak Varma again as a retired to the final ball of 19. He had marked 25 runs of 23 balls, but struggled to hit large shots. Mi sent Mitchell Santner, but the party was already falling since its blows while chasing 203 runs, as LSG won this game for 12 runs.
