Mohammad Hafez wakes up before the Champions Trophy Final in Dubai; Slams PCB for the hybrid model

Former Pakistan Captain Mohammad Hafeez has dismissed India’s claims that he received special CPI treatment during the current 2025 Champions Trophy. Mohammad Hafez stated that India is the only team that prioritizes ICC trophies, while other teams focus on financial gains.

There is a debate on whether India had an unfair advantage by playing all its games, including the knockouts, in a single precinct: the Dubai International Stadium. A hybrid model was introduced after the Indian government did not allow Team India to travel to Pakistan, the host tournament.

Mohammad Hafez said that different cricket tips have different priorities depending on their financial strength. He stated that the weakest boards economically allow players to participate in franchise leagues, even during the international series.

“I went south -Africa in 2021 and sent their players to the IPL. They are not a financially strong board. South -Africa they want money. They played their C team against Pakistan,” Hafez told the game in Hai.

“Later, they sent their players to the IPL even during a series of tests against New Zealand. Then, when Sa20 arrived, they started treating it as a money machine. They do not want to commit this. This is their policy,” he added.

Mohammad Hafez also stated that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepted the hybrid model to house the 2025 Champions League trophy for financial reasons. He emphasized that Pakistan won nothing to house the Champions League trophy in a hybrid format, apart from the monetary benefits.

India will face New Zealand in the 2025 Champions League Trophy in Dubai on Sunday, March 9.
