Former Quick Mitchell Johnson has struck the comments of Todd Greenberg CEO, CEO of Cricket Australia (CA) on the future of Test Cricket. Johnson stated that limiting the test cricket to a few nations would hurt the game and added that smaller cricket nations should be supported to grow the sport.
The CPI recently formed a working group, led by the ex -Kiwi Roger Twose, to explore the future of the test cricket and the improvements to the WTC. A two -level testing system was an important discussion point at the July Annual Conference. The idea of two levels has been in consideration for more than 15 years.
Todd Greenberg recently stated that the extension of the number of nations playing in the tests is not practical. Speaking at the BBC, he emphasized that the test cricket should focus on series like ashes. Greenberg added that forcing all countries to participate in the test cricket could go bankrupt.
Your daily dose of cricket!
“I don’t think everyone in the world cricket has to aspire to play a test cricket, and it may be well. We literally try to send bankruptcy countries if we force them to try to play Cricket. The scarcity in the test cricket is our friend, not our enemy,” said Greenberg.
“We need to ensure that we invest in the right spaces to play a test cricket where something means and is in danger. That is why the ashes will be as huge and profitable as it is, because it means something,” he added.
In his column for the Australian west, Mitchell Johnson stated that the test cricket can be maintained by supporting the emerging nations of Cricket. He added that players and fans of younger countries are passionate about the format, even without profit.
“Here is the thing, if this is fear, we have lost the point. The solution to save the test cricket is not to climb -up to three or four rich countries. It is to lift the rest. Help them. Creating the game.
“ This is where real leadership begins, not on the scale, but building a stronger base. Because we are clear: these nations want to play test cricket. Players want it. Fans want it. So why we do so hard? I have been in countries where the cricket is not endorsed by $ 1 billion television offers, but the passion is still there. ”
Mitchell Johnson warned of exceeding the “three great” in the Click calendar. The fast ex-policer acknowledged that he does not have all the solutions, but he shared his opinions from the perspective of a former player.
“I do not have all the answers, this is not in my payment note, but I can say from the point of view of a former player that we need as many countries that play the test cricket as possible. If it were not for Test Cricket and their initial financial support, we do not see twenty-vint Cricket as today.”
The Ashes 2025-26 series will begin in Australia on November 21 in Perth. England and India recently drew their 2-2 test series.
In the meantime, Australia defeated the western Indies in a 3-0 series sweep. New Zealand also recorded victories about Zimbabwe. The black caps beat the house side for an entrance and 359 races in the second test.
