Meghan Markle in hand dab in the kitchen, according to pal Mindy Kaling.

The The Mindy Project star, 45, spilled the beans on Meghan’s cooking skills as the The Duchess of Sussex is preparing to launch her new Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghanlater this month.

The trailer for the new show dropped last week and it shows Meghan, 43, whipping up a delicious meal for Kaling in which she and Prince Harry‘s Montecito, California, kitchen.

“I was just on my maternity leave and Meghan texted me and said, ‘Hey, do you want to come on my show … come to Montecito and have me cook for you?'” Kaling explained about her guest appearance during a red carpet interview with Closing date on Sunday, January 5, Golden Globes. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, that sounds perfect. I would love to do that.”

The comedian said she considers herself a “very good cook,” but it’s no surprise that Meghan blew me out of the water.

“The thing about his recipes and being there is that it’s really accessible,” Kaling continued. “She’s got a garden from scratch, which I could never do, and chickens … they’d probably all die if I tried to take care of chickens. I was like, ‘Oh, this is very accessible.'”

While Meghan’s husband Harry, 40, was at home when Kaling visited her, she didn’t get a taste of his cooking.

“I heard he’s a pretty good cook,” she said. “He knows his way around a kitchen.”

Meghan’s new lifestyle series, which will premiere on Wednesday, January 15, “reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming” with Meghan at the forefront “combining practicality and honest conversation with friends, ” according to Netflix.

“I’ve always loved taking something quite ordinary and elevating it,” Meghan said in a trailer released on Thursday, January 2. “Surprise people with moments that let them know I’m thinking of them.”

Produced by Meghan herself, the former actress will offer “tips and tricks” for life in the upcoming eight-episode series, which will feature guest appearances from Kaling, Harry and Meghan’s past. Suits costar and friend Abigail Spencer.

“Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlighting how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected,” the show’s official logline reads. “She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.”

With Love, Meghan is the second series to be released under the Meghan and Harry series general agreement with Netflix. (Harry Polo decreased last month.)

Ahead of the show’s official announcement, a source said Us Weekly in August 2024 that the series was supposed to “be the sight of (Meghan) and the joy of living.” The insider noted that she will teach viewers “Little things she has learned about being a modern guest.”
