Microsoft founder Bill Gates says most of its $ 200 billion (150 billion pounds) will be spent on improving medical services in Africa over the next 20 years.
The 69-year-old guy said that “having unleashed human potential at the expense of health and education, every country in Africa should be on the way to welfare.”
Speaking in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis -Ababa, he also urged the young innovators of Africa to think about how to create artificial intelligence (AI) to improve health care on the continent.
Goal announced last month that he would give 99% of his huge state by 2045 when his fund planned to complete his activity.
“Recently, I have made a commitment that my wealth will be issued over the next 20 years. Most of this funding will be spent on helping you to solve problems here in Africa,” he said in an appeal to the African Union (AU) headquarters.
Former Lady Grich Moffe Mazambik greeted his statement, saying he had entered the “moment of crisis”.
“We look forward to the unwavering attachment of Mr Gates to continue to follow this transformation path with us,” she said.
The US government has reduced assistance in Africa, including the HIV/AIDS patients’ treatment program, within the framework of US President Donald Trump policy, “America First”, causing concern to the continent’s future.
Gates said his fund, which has many years of work in Africa, will focus on improving primary care.
“What we have learned is what the mother helps to be healthy and have great nutrition before getting pregnant while she is pregnant, it gives the strongest results,” he said.
“Ensuring the child receives good food in the first four years and also matters.”
In a message to the young innovators, the millionaire noted that mobile phones had revolutionized in the bank in Africa, and claimed that AI should now be used in favor of the continent.
“Africa has largely missed the traditional banking, and now you have a chance when you build your next -generation health care systems, think about how built -in II,” he said.
Gates pointed out on the example of Rwanda, saying that this is already improving the services using AI ultrasound to detect a high risk pregnancy.
The Gates Foundation said he had three priorities: the cessation of the death of his mother and babies, ensuring that the next generation would grow without suffering from fatal infectious diseases and pulling millions of poverty.
“At the end of 20 years, the fund will take its operations,” the statement reads.
Last month, Gates said he would accelerate his giving through his foundation.
“People will say a lot about me when I die, but I’m determined that” he died rich “will not be one of them,” He wrote in a blog message.
According to Bloomberg, distributing 99% of his happiness, he can still leave the fifth rich man in the world billionaire.
Together with Paul Allen, Gates founded Microsoft in 1975, and the company soon became dominant in software and other technology fields.
In recent decades, Gates gradually retreated from the company, resigned as Chief Executive Director in 2000 and as chairman in 2014.
He said he was inspired to hand out money to investors Warren Buffett and other virtues.
However, his fund’s critics say Gates uses its charity status to avoid taxes and that it has an excessive impact on the world health system.
