Michael’s sister, Virginia MadsenShe also broke her silence.
“My brother Michael left the stage. He was Thunder and Velvet. Mireschief wrapped in tenderness. A poet was hidden as a ban,” wrote Virginia, 63, via Instagram on Thursday. “A father, son, brother – engraved in a contradiction, was tempered by a girlfriend who left his mark.”
Virginia praised Michael for the Legacy left behind.
“We do not mourn a public figure. We do not mourn a myth – but flesh and blood and fierce heart,” he noted. “Who attacked through life loudly, great and a half on fire. Who leaves us echoing – Gruff, great, unimaginable – half a legend, half a nursery rhyme.”
Virginia added: “I’ll lose our jokes inside, the sudden laughter, the sound of it. I’ll miss the boy he was before the legend. I lose my big brother. Thanks to everyone who reaches out with love and memory. In time, we will share how we intend to celebrate his life. But for the time being – we stay close, and let the silence say what words can’t say.”
