Mexico’s best boxer: Julio Cesar Chavez or Salvador Sanchez?

I recently found several articles on the World WBC World Champion of Mexico, Salvador Sanchez, 44-1-1, with 32 knockouts. This is an impressive record.

The only time I saw Fight against Sánchez was in September 1980, winning a majority decision on Patrick Ford de Guyana, 16-0, when he was 36-1-1, at Freeman Coliseum, in San Antonio, Texas, through television. I thought Ford was enough to make the decision.

Sánchez would continue to earn his seven nearby fights before losing his life in an automatic collision on August 12, 1982, changing with a truck as he accelerated, according to police report.

Sánchez won the title, stopping Danny ‘Little Red’ Lopez, 42-3, in February 1980, in Phoenix, Az. Later he stopped one of the largest boxers of Puerto Rico, Wilfredo Gomez, 32-0-1, in August 1981, in Las Vegas. He would win his next three fights, ending with the future champion Azumah Nelson, 13-0, at the Madison Square Garden.

Looking at the Grand Super World Super Feather Pweather, Lightweight and Light Welterweight, Julio ‘JC’ Chavez, 107-6-2 with 85 knockouts compared to about 29 title defenses.

Chávez won about Roger Mayweather, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte, Edwin Rosario, Rafael Limon, Jose Luis Ramirez, Sammy Fuentes, Meldrick Taylor, Lonnie Smith, Hector Camacho, Greg Haugen, Frankie Randall, Tony Lopez, Giovani Parisi and Joey Gamache. Lost in front of Randall, Oscar de la Hoya and Kostya Tszyu.

The two fighters were introduced to the International Boxing Fame Show.

Who do you think was the largest Mexican champion between the two?
