The commentator Max Kellerman claims that Terence Crawford checks all the boxes to have the advantage of the super unquestionable champion Canelo Alvarez for his struggle on September 13 in Las Vegas.
He claims that the area where Terence lacks is the size. Canelo (63-2-2, 39 kos) is larger and can be a tougher punch. Kellerman is not sure of this because he has not seen if Crawford’s power has increased with him who sinks for his fight against Canelo on the Allegant Stadium.
“You could imagine Crawford because he is the naturally smaller fighter and would mean he would keep this advantage in this struggle,” said commentator Max Kellerman a Ring Magazine When asked who has the speed of the fastest hand between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
In the last fight of Crawford against Israil Madrimov on August 3, 2024, his hand speed was not extraordinary. The two seemed to be the same speed of the hand. In his first, 10 years ago, Crawford had a good hand speed, but he was not at the level of the fighters of the past, Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao. After 17 years as a professional, Crawford’s speed was average and was not exceptional.
“Both have intellectual coefficients of sky rings.
It is impossible to evaluate good Crawford because your resume does not have the big names needed to place it high on a list of pounds for pounds. When he moved to 154, where there were real challenges, he quickly took the struggle of Canelo after a narrow struggle answered against Madrimov.
If Crawford had stayed in 154 to try against the elite fighters of the division, fans and people who create pound lists could identify if it is worthy of being on the list. Terence approached to lose before Israil Madrimov on August 3, 2023, winning by the scores 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112. What if Crawford had stayed to fight Vergil Ortiz JR, Bakhram Murtazaliev, Abass Baraou and Sebastian Fundora?
“Canelo has had the longest race. He has been fighting since he was a teenager (Alvarez became a professional on October 29, 2005, at the age of 15). And there have been recently signs that he may not be the same as he used to be,” said Kellerman.
Canelo and Crawford leave rare performances. Crawford won the WBA Junior Middleweight champion, Israil Madrimov, on August 3, 2024, but Canelo defeated the IBF Super Media champion, William Scull, by a 12 -round unanimous decision in a low struggle for him. Canelo launched only 152 punching the whole fight. This is 12.67 punches per round.
“If we look at all the boxes, I will check for most of them, if not all. But the reason why Canelo is favored is that he does a lot at a very high level and is a naturally larger boy,” said Kellerman.
Crawford essentially moves three classes of weight to fight Canelo in 168. Kellerman does not mention this, nor does he point out that Crawford chose not to make a tune to Super Middleweight to give himself an experience during the last year when he could have done so.
Canelo is not only the largest boy, but is the most experienced against the highest quality opposition. Crawford’s curriculum does not have the names that Canelo has.
Once you have overcome Israil Madrimov and Yuriorkis Gamboa in the Crawford curriculum, you can’t see much. The names of Terence’s register were those of largest fighters approaching at the end of their career. He fought these fighters at the end of his career:
– Errol Spence
– Shawn Porter
– Ricky Burns
– You need Brook
– amir khan
– Yurorkis Gamboa
– Raymond Beltran
