Matthew McConaughey suggests smaller beds for couples in a new book

Matthew McConaughey Had some sweet advice for married couples in a new poem called “Less Beds.”

“The best thing you can / do for your / marriage,” wrote the actor in his new poetry book called Poems and prayers and shelfs struck on Tuesday, September 16.

McConaughey must be speaking from experience, as it was married to a wife Camila Alves Since 2012. The couple share three children: Levi, 17, Vida, 15, and Livingston, 12.

“Smaller beds” was not the only piece of work where McConaughey got a personal. In musing without a title, an Oscar winner reflected on balancing his relationship and career.

“The measurements of importance in my life are / my health, my family, my wedding, my career, / and my relationship with God. I / always have to re -graduate and adapt the / gauges to maintain balance,” he said. “My career has started and takes all my time? Whoops, / relationship with my family and God begins / slips to the red. My children and I are favorite people / another and my six packs / torn? I guess more time / with my wife.”

McConaughey then compared his connection with Alves to keep his car in good condition to keep him running smoothly.

“And because I don’t want to / let any of those go too far south, I have to take a inventory, and re -rate,” he continued. “Remember / those alpine cars stereo equal in the / 1980s? Life is a balancing act and you / gotta are still re-tuning your equal to stay / out of the red.”

McConaughey also wrote a poem called “Certainly,” where he recounted a moment when he did something selfish.

“Out to face instead of recovery, / I’ve been confusing selfish for sure. / Locked behind the door of my dictator, / uncertainty of fighting curtain. / Always compete for the victory, / I need more care and consideration,” he wrote. “To make some space for a swimming sin, / we will be fair in correlation. / I know that I rarely be wrong, / but there is more than one way to be right. / Others deserve a chance to belong, / especially my wife.”

Before release Poems and prayersMcConaughey opened for his inspiration to publish another book. (McConaughey released his popular biography, Greenlightin 2020.)

“Full of faith -driven reflections, raw honesty and moments of humor that explores what it means to live, love and believe, poems and prayers are more than a book,” he said in July. “It’s a memory – a place where we can rediscover what we’ve lost, celebrate what’s left and maybe even leave after what is no longer serving us.”
