Jane Gaudreau she shared her emotional reaction after her grandson Tripp was born just four months after Tripp’s father and Jane’s son Matthew Gaudreau killed by a drunk driver.
“Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop’s hearts overflow with love for you, Tripp Matthew,” shared Jane via her Instagram Story on Sunday, December 29, also referring to her husband, Guy. “We are so incredibly proud of you and your mum and I know your Dad is too! 💙.”

Matthew and his older brother, Lyrics meaning: Johnnywas was hit and killed by a drunk driver while riding their bikes in Oldmans Township, New Jersey on August 30. Johnny was 31 years old, and Matthew was 29 years old.
Katie Gaudreauthe younger sister of the brothers who was due to get married the day after killing Matthew and Johnny, also shared her enthusiastic reaction to Tripp’s birth.
“Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! Aunt Katie loves you mom and dad SOOOO much,” Katie said on Madeline’s Instagram post announcing his arrival.
The entire Gaudreau family had been by Madeline’s side throughout her pregnancy, which included Madeline’s baby shower in October.
“Today we celebrated Matty, Madeline and Tripp at the baby shower,” Jane shared via Instagram on October 12. “I can’t wait to meet you Tripp Matthew and tell you all the great stories about your amazing Dad and Uncle John.💙❤️.”
The shower was attended by Johnny’s wife, Meredith Gaudreauwho announced that she was nine weeks pregnant with the couple’s third baby at a memorial service for the brothers in September.
Johnny and Meredith are the parents of a daughter Noahnow 2, and a son Lyrics meaning: Johnny10 months now.
At the funeral, Madeline discussed how she would be keep Matthew’s memory alive for their unborn son.
“Matt will surround his son for the rest of his life,” Madeline said. He added, “I’m so grateful that God gave us a child, little Matty, to run around for life, to continue his legacy. Tripp will know how much his father loved him, and I promise to do all the things we talked about.”
Matthew should have celebrated his 30th birthday earlier this month, which Madeline commemorated with a thoughtful message.
“Happy Birthday to the best husband and father 🤍,” Madeline wrote via Instagram on December 5. “The moment I met you I immediately knew you were the one. As I celebrate you today (and every day) I am more and more in love with you and honored to be your wife. John better have friends playing all day, double stuff Oreos and a nice glass of whiskey for you. 💙🦋 I love you and can’t wait to kiss your face again.”
