Matlock 2 season questions answered after unexpected pregnancy, final spin

The Matloc Finally, the season 1 finale revealed the mystery of who hid those documents-but then introduced an unexpected pregnancy and a mysterious new character.

I want the story to be as good as possible and as airtight as possible.”

“The Winks were always things that Matty knew he could let the audience go on. But Matty wasn’t ahead of this,” Urman shared Us. “Matty doesn’t know she really looks for her. She thought she was Olympia to a point and then thought she was Julian. So because she wasn’t ahead – and we find it in real time with her – there’s no preceding in that way because we find out with Matty.”

The writers’ room wanted to make sure all the plot pieces fit together.

“We made sure it would line up. “It’s not like they will see all the subtle things, which, in my opinion, makes it interesting. But there could be nothing hanging out in plain daylight that showed that Julian or Matty would have caught him.”

“I always knew I wanted Olympia to catch it but I wanted us to change views to show the perspective of Olympia. I wanted Olympia to surprise the audience and Matty the same way as Matty surprised us in the first episode,” said Urman. “That was always the plan. We played a lot about when Olympia was going to undo Matty for a while. It was a little earlier around Chapter 13 or 14. Then we realized, ‘Oh, we could father -carite and get this questioning episode and that would lead to the finale.’ All the ways in which the ending would make him feel like the right order for us.

What else changed – or not done in the final version?

“He did this horrible thing and holds secrets. He also tries to save himself and he fights for life for himself,” Urman shared. “It allows him to play at so many different levels and allows the interaction with Matty to be loaded in different ways. It allows Olympia’s interactions to be loaded in different ways. We have much more now that he has integrated so specifically into that main plot. We get to see more of it, I think makes everyone happy.”

Was the man who showed at Matty’s house an Alfie father?

“Bringing Alfie’s father back is going to change and destabilize the family life. This one place where everything was on solid ground – suddenly this other element that is out of Matty’s control, which is not where she likes to be,” Urman noted. “It’s not comfortable when they are out of control. They have to do a DNA test and see if this guy is the father. Suddenly they have to incorporate it into things. When did he know Ellie? What is his status with addiction? Do they want to take part?”

He continued: “It brings it all to the fore. It definitely brings Ellie back to the story in a real way. You will definitely see more backlashes that explore some of Ellie’s joy and her mother and their relationship – not just the pain.”

Isn’t Billy Hot’s summer an option anymore?
