Andhra Pradesh’s State Cricket team, in a daring movement, has assured Gary Stead’s services for the next domestic season.

“Initially we were looking at an Australian coach. Then a friend suggested, why not try Gary? So we contacted him and, from the first conversation, he struck us for his preparation. He arrived at the meeting with a complete understanding of our team,” Cricbuzza, ACA’s secretary, Sana Sathish Babu, confirmed the sheet.

Seaad, the ancient legend of New Zealand, is expected to arrive at Vishakhapatnam in a week, as the parties initially signed an agreement for a year before extending it to two seasons.

Gary stead’s 7 years with black caps

Gary Stead has been a successful coach on the international platform, as New Zealand has been successful of seven years with the coach. Earlier this year, in June, he finished his contract with the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC).

Under him, the Blackcaps went to the number 1 position in the ICC Test and Hate Ranking. He had also led them to win the ICC World Test Championship in 2021, which was the first major ICC Trophy in New Zealand, after losing in the 2019 World Cup final.

The only preview that the legendary coach established was that Stead asked ACA to grant him a leave of absence to visit his home during Christmas, which ACA easily accepted, according to Cricbuzz. It is expected that it will be in charge from September 20 to 25, after the work visa will be approved.

Mishap for Andhra after a bewildering season

Andhra had a very puzzling season last year, after finishing sixth (6th) in the B -group B matches of Ranji Trophy, with a victory and three losses in 7 games. Also at the Vijay Hazare trophy, they ended up as the fourth team of the B group games of eight teams and finished their smat campaign in a disappointing loss in the finals before the quarter.

Andhra also faced a great setback at the beginning of the season, with Hanuma Virari leaving the state team and taking a new role to the Tripura state team. In the absence, the side will be directed by Ricky Bhui.
