Report from Washington, Los -Angeles and New York
Protests against President Donald Trump took place in the cities and cities of the United States, organized by a group called “Without Kings”.
The demonstrations were carried out to fight the rare military parade conducted by Trump in Washington and took place after the days of protests in the Los -Andeles and other places in their immigration policy.
Legislators, trade union leaders and activists made speeches in cities, including New York, Philadelphia and Houston, so that the crowds waved American flags and posters that are critical of Trump.
A military parade on Saturday night, also the birthday of Trump, was timed to the 250th anniversary of the US Army. He warned that any protests at the parade would be met with “strong force”.
The organizers said hundreds of protests took place with millions of participants.
In Philadelphia, people gathered in a love park. “I just feel that we need to defend our democracy,” said the Associate Press Karen Van Triest, a 61-year-old nurse.
She said that the staffing of Trump’s staffing for state health bodies was one of the reasons it succeeded.
One of the big crowds was in Los -Angeles, where leaders and law enforcement agencies were more vigilant during the protests, sometimes violent, against a number of deportation raids.
Trump sent a week ago to the national guard of the state against the wishes of Governor Gavin Newsom and the anger of local officials.
On Saturday, Jose Azetkla, a member of the Civil Rights Group The Brown Berets, told the BBC in Los -Angeles that the immigration brought him out on the street.
“It’s not sharply, it’s evil. You don’t separate the families,” he said.
There were confrontations between participants of the rally participants and the National Guard soldiers near the federal building and tears to scatter crowds.
But in the block or two, hundreds of participants continued to march peacefully.
Despite the largest protests as Trump was re -elected, surveys show that his immigration policy remains widely popular in the public.
Last week, a CBS/YouGOV survey showed that 54% of Americans approved their immigrant deportation policies in the United States illegally – 46% are not approved.
Many Americans (42%) have stated that Trump’s program makes them safer and 53% stated that it plays the preference for dangerous criminals.
The name of the protest “without kings” indicates criticism that Trump has exceeded the borders of the presidential power in the second term.
The president made a salute as some of the thousands of soldiers who took part in the parade passed by, along with dozens of tanks and military vehicles, as well as marching groups.
He briefly spoke to thank the attendees for his service.
“Our soldiers never give up. Never give up and never, never throw. They fight, fight. And they win, win, win.”
Some politicians and former military leaders criticized the event as a precious Vanity project. According to the army, the price is from $ 25 to $ 45 (from 18.4 million pounds to 33.2 million pounds).
But many of those present said the BBC that they were talking about the celebration of the military, to whom some of them had a deep connection.
When Melvin Grevez returned from fighting in Vietnam, he did not receive advice, he said, so it was as close as he came to one.
Mr. Grevez acknowledged that politics played a role in the event, but added: “It is about honoring these men and women who served to thank them for their service.”
The last military parade in the United States was held by President George W. Bush in June 1991, noting the victory under the leadership of the United States in the Persian Gulf war.
A crowd of 200,000 people attended the parade to cheer the veterans, reaching a maximum of 800,000 who watched the fireworks, La Times reports at the time.
The figures at the Saturday event were much lower, partly from the wet conditions and the heavy rain.
For young veterans, the parade was something they never saw during the service.
Brian Angel, a former infantry from Virginia, who served in the army from 2014 to 2017, including staying on the border between South and North Korea, said the BBC that he wants more.
“Each branch must receive some parade or recognition.”
Some experts have seen a difficult match between US soldiers who followed the capital, while the president was deployed troops to fight protests in Los Eandles.
Barbara’s security expert said the BBC: “From this polarization, now over this immigration discussion and the use of troops in the transportation of weapons, I think it overlaps this parade in such a way that it may not be initially provided by the army.”
Some “Without Kings” demonstrations in Minnesota were canceled by the organizers after the Flaors were found in a man who is accused of death from a state politician and her husband at the event.
Governor Tim Waltz urged people not to visit the protests until the suspect was arrested, but it stopped thousands.
