Martinelli leaves the bench to inspire the victory

Arsenal’s substitute Gabriel Martinelli marked 36 seconds after leaving the bench and then made a second when the Gunners launched their champions league campaign with a good victory in Bilbao.

The end of Brazil replaced Eberechi Eze in the 71st minute and made an instant and explanatory impact, passing to Leandro Trossard and surpassed Uni Simon.

Martinelli then passed ahead of a defender on the left to cut the ball again to the sub -cut fellow, and his deflected shot left the post to seal the victory with three minutes on the left.

The game had been blocked for much of the game as the first meeting of the sides failed to set fire.

But the Gunners, reinforced by their summer signings and the stronger staff, began to reach three points.

Athletic Club, in the Champions League for the first time since 2014-15, named an XI that they had never played in the competition. And the experience was key at the end.

The new arsenal striker, Viktor Gyokeres, had a busy but frustrating night and was replaced by a piece after 65 minutes by Mikel Arteta playing Mikel Merino in the middle.

And the new men on the bench soon said their saying to give the Gunners, who came to the semifinals last season, an unpaid victory.
